New York Gov. Eliot Spitzer a.k.a “Client 9″ to Resign

March 11, 2008

New York State Governor Eliot Spitzer is expected to announce his resignation, according to his senior aides. This follows revelations yesterday that he was named in a prostitution sting operation. Spitzer is known as “Client 9″ in the federal affidavit (read it here), apparently spent upwards of $4000 (!) for a little more than an hour with an escort at a Washington DC hotel.

The Feds were tipped off to Spitzer’s involvement because his bank reported suspicious money transfers to “shell” companies that were a suspected front for illegal activity, according to the New York Times. They initially assumed it was for payoffs involving political corruption, but it turned out it was just for tail.

Spitzer, known for cursing out and threatening political rivals, or basically anyone who disagrees with him, apparently also likes it rough in other arenas besides politics: “according to another woman associated with the Emperor’s Club, ‘ he would ask you to do things that, like, you might not think were safe.’ There was no elaboration. ”

The lesson, as always: Never use electronic money transfers of thousands of dollars for an online call girl service when you are the sitting governor. Something tells me its bound to catch up with you.
