Dept. of over reactions

May 11

What’s the over/under on how many Fox News commentators angrily call for the dismantling of the White House Correspondent’s Dinner tonight?

After expressing pleasure at the thought of Sean Hannity being warterboarded, Wanda Sykes said his torture breaking point  would be “sitting in the middle seat in coach.” So he can’t be too happy. Surely Greta Van Susteren, with her unhealthy obsession of all things Palin, will be apoplectic over the Palin/abstinence joke. And did you see the cutaways of Bill O’Reilly and Glenn Beck? They were pissed. If anything is certain, those two will feign in horror over the press’ raucous laughter at the Rush Limbaugh/terrorist/OxyContin finale.

Of course, they will have to ignore the fact that they stood silent when George Bush himself once joked about the “missing WMDs” that were the bogus basis for a war that killed hundreds of thousands of people. The video of Michael Steele laughing it up through the Palin bit will have to be glossed over too.

Something tells me, though, none of those realities will deter them from a boycott of future Correspondent’s Dinners, because after all, that bit by a comedian about Rush being a drug addict (which he is)? That was way over the line.

  1. Obama '12 says:

The great thing is they can’t bring up the jokes about Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity without bringing up the truth that those jokes poked fun at in the first place.

And it continues the death spiral for the Republicans because it’s more attention on Rush Limbaugh. As long as he is the face of the Republicans they will be going nowhere fast.
